Our Story

Discover the story behind Local Social, our passion for catering, and commitment to bringing people together through exceptional food experiences in Philadelphia.

The Local Social Beginning

Local Social began with a simple idea — bring people together through great food made from ingredients grown close to home. What started as a few neighborhood gatherings quickly grew into a full-service catering company serving corporate clients across the region. Founded by Mike Flora, a longtime food lover and event professional, Local Social was built on a passion for community, connection, and craftsmanship. After years of working with local chefs and small farms, Mike saw an opportunity to create a catering experience that celebrated the best of both worlds — restaurant-quality menus with the reliability and professionalism businesses expect.

Our Mission

From the start, our mission has been clear: support local chefs and purveyors while delivering exceptional food and service for every occasion. Today, we partner with a talented network of culinary professionals who share our values — sourcing fresh, seasonal ingredients and crafting customizable menus that reflect each client’s vision. Whether it’s a working lunch, a corporate retreat, or a large-scale event, Local Social brings creativity, flavor, and hospitality to the table — because great food should do more than feed people; it should connect them.

Ideal Clients

Our ideal clients are executive offices and executive assistants, HR professionals, and event planners in Philadelphia seeking corporate catering and event management services. We handle everything from locally sourced food to linens, staff, and everything in between, ensuring a seamless and delightful experience.
